Irregular Past Participles
• In the previous section you learned how to use the helping verb haber with regular past participles to form the present perfect.
 Example: Mi madre es argentina, pero yo nunca he visitado Argentina.

The Present Perfect Tense:
It is used to say what things have or have not yet occured in time up to the present and to talk about anything that has happened fairly recently.
To form this tense, use the present tense of haber followed by the verb in the past participle.
Haber- he, has, ha, hemos, han
To form the past participle drop the infinitive ending and add ado to ar verbs and ido to er and ir verbs. If the stem ends in a, e , or o add ído if its and ir or er verb.
All reflexive and object pronouns go before haber. There are several irregular past participles such as abrir – abierto

Escribir – escrito
Hacer – hecho
Morir – muerto
Poner – puesto
Revolver – revuelto
Romper – roto

Present Perfect
1. One use of the present perfect is to say what has or hasn’t happened in a period of time up to the present.
2. Another use is to talk about something that happened very recently.
3. To form the present perfect, use the present tense of the helping verb haber (to have) infront of the past participle of the main verb.
4. To form the past participle of –er and –ir verbs add –ído to the stem and drop –er or -ir.
5. To form the past partcicple of –ar verbs add –ado to the stem and drop –ar.
6. Reflexive and object pronouns go before the conjugated haber because it is one cohesive unit.

Examples:
1. Mario ha estudiado el plano de la ciudad en el hotel.
2. Marta y yo hemos leído la guía turística de Buenos Aires.

In this new chapter of Buenos Aires, Argentina, the first thing we went over is the Present Perfect. The present perfect is used to say what has or hasn’t happened in a period of time up to the present. Also, it is used to talk about something that happened very recently. To form it, use the present tense of the helping verb haber followed by the past participle of the main verb. Past participle of –er and –ir verbs who stems end in –a, -e, or –o, add –ido.
Berta todavía no lo he estudiado.
Pablo no la ha leyido.
Pablo y Berta todavía no han cambiado dinero.

There are a few irregular past participles.

Preterite and imperfect

o The imperfect is often used after the preterite of decir, oír, or leer with que to report something that was said, heard, or read.
 Example: Leí en el periόdico que había mucho turismo en el Mar del Plata.

The Present Progressive and the future
• You’ve used the present tense of estar followed by a present participle to form the present progressive.
• You can also use the present tense of andar with a present participle to say what is happening right now.
 Example: Esos pasejeros están leyendo revistas en alemán.
 Example: Mis hermanos andan nadando cerca de las cataratas.
• Use the future tense to talk about future vacation plans or itinerary.
 Example: Llegaremos el diez de Julio y nos quedaremos por cinco días.
• You’ve also used the future tense to say what is probally trae or likely to happen.
 Example: Alán estará en las agues termales. Dijo que le dolían las piernas.- Alan is probally at the hot springs. He said his legs were hurting.
• You can also use the future tense with a present participle to talk about what is probally going on or what someone is probally doing.
